“WRITE YOUR FUTURE” SCHOLARSHIP

 

The “Write Your Future” Scholarship is one of many funding opportunities available to single mothers through The Single Mother Advancement Project’s (THESMAP’s) “Write Your Future” initiatives. This scholarship is intended for single mothers pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. The applicant must be accepted or enrolled in an accredited, public academic institution, and a registered member of The Single Mother Advancement Project (THESMAP).

 

Scholarship amount: $10,000 - $25,000

 

Eligibility Requirements:

 

  • Applicant must be U.S. citizen or resident.

  • Applicant must be a single mother.

  • Applicant must be accepted or enrolled in an accredited, public 2-year or 4-year academic institution, or an accredited community college or trade school, in the United States.

  • Applicant must be a registered member of The Single Mother Advancement Project (THESMAP).

  • Applicant must complete the “Write Your Future” scholarship application.

  • Applicant must submit a 1,500 - 2,500 word essay detailing how the “Write Your Future” Scholarship will advance.

  • Applicant must demonstrate a financial need.

COLLEGE BOARD. You are probably familiar with the College Board if you have taken the SAT, AP tests or other college entry exams. But the College Board can help you after you have been accepted into a school - its scholarship search helps you find awards to help you pay for college.

CAREER ONE STOP. The U.S. Department of Labor has its own scholarship website through the Career One Stop portal. There are more than 8,000 scholarships listed, and you can filter awards by keyword or sort them by amount, deadline, residing state and state where you will be studying. There are scholarships available for students enrolled in a vocational school or working toward an associate degree, as well as for undergraduate and graduate students.

Each year The Single Mother Advancement Project (THESMAP) offers need-based and merit scholarships to outstanding and qualified single mother students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees as part of our “Write Your Future” initiative. Through the generosity of our Founder and donors, THESMAP advance efforts to ensure equity in educational opportunity that prepares single mothers for success in school, work, and life. Investing in our single mothers is vital to supporting the next generation of leaders.

 

Our scholarships range in award amount, academic interests, and age. Whether you are a graduating high school senior or early in your professional career, we are pleased to provide financial opportunities and recognition to assist with collegiate and post-educational endeavors.
