Gifted with a sharp mind, an innate ability to connect with others, and an insatiable thirst for excellence, Kiersten Colbert serves as The Single Mother Advancement Project’s (THESMAP’s) Public Affairs Officer. In this capacity, she oversees the organization’s brand studio, media relations, marketing channels, digital engagement, internal communications, and external engagement strategy functions. A native of the District of Columbia, Maryland, Viginia (DMV) metro area, she passionately provides nontraditional and innovative resources to advance the single mother community.

Kiersten is a hands-on leader, influential director, and coach, who instills loyalty, drive, a commitment to
excel, and a passion for innovation. She advocates, without hesitation, effective change that promote single mother advancement. Her persistent dedication to empowering single mothers, changing policies, and giving to make lives better inspires single mothers throughout the nation to perform beyond expectations. Kiersten’s sustained superior performance, proven track record of building strong community relationships, and her tireless effort to increase brand visibility are The Single Mother Advancement Project's (THESMAP's) most-valued internal assets. Kiersten also has significant experience in event planning and management, public relations, strategic planning, organizational design and innovation. She has strong cultural and inclusion competence leading teams and is a dynamic public speaker and team motivator. Kiersten is a strong champion for single mother leadership. She is a graduate of Duquesne University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising.
